Building on the success of last year’s BBK EmTech Summit & Expo, BBK has announced the Digital Economy Forum & Expo this coming December, to explore and envision the future of Bahrain’s digital economy and address the opportunities of the digital economic transformation in the Kingdom.
Taking place on 4 & 5 December at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay, the forum will be held in partnership with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), following the successful the collaboration between BBK and BIBF in 2018 during the BBK Emtech Summit & Expo. This year’s forum will target experts and attendees of all sectors to discuss and investigate how all major players in the economy can utilise the various advantages digital can bring to develop and improve the national economy.
The partnership agreement was signed by BBK Human Resources and Administration Group General Manager, Mr. Hassaan Mohamed Burshaid and the BIBF Director, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shaikh.
With the main theme of “Transforming Businesses & Society through Digitisation”, the two-day forum will bring together industry leaders, key players and experts from across the region to discuss Bahrain’s Digital Economy impacting the major pillars of Culture & Leadership, Customer Experience, and Innovation.
The Digital Economy Forum will focus on various sectors that have a direct impact on the economy, some that include but are not limited to Health, Banking, Financial Services, Government, Education, Oil & Gas, Telecom and Architecture.
Alongside the main event, an international expo will also be held to showcase digital applications & solutions by international providers for various sectors.
BBK Chief Executive, Mr. Reyadh Yousif Sater said, “We are pleased to partner with the BIBF, this time to recognize the importance of connectivity of the digital economy and the Kingdom’s growth and prosperity. This is a recommended transition after the successful implementation of BBK’s EmTech Summit & Expo.” He also added, “This Forum demonstrates BBK’s contribution to support digital on boarding across the economy, with the aim of highlighting the importance of a digital economy in optimising processes and production, reducing transaction costs, and transforming supply chains and presenting new opportunities for entrepreneurship and job creation.”
The BIBF Director, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shaikh said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with BBK to continue presenting similar learning initiatives in alignment with the Bank’s commitment and dedication to its local community and social responsibility.” He also mentioned that the Kingdom of Bahrain is progressing towards the transformation of a digital economy in light of technological evolution, and It is now important to emphasise on how the entire economy can benefit from digital transformation, as it can have significant competitiveness and productivity-boosting opportunities related to access to digital products and services.”
