(MENAFN) Industries Qatar, the Gulf’s second-largest petrochemicals firm, announced it had shelved its plans for Al Sejeel petrochemical complex, its multi-billion dollar project, Arabian Business reported.
The company said that it is currently considering a new downstream petrochemical project , which is expected to bring in better economic returns.
The Al Sejeel petrochemical project was set to become one of the world’s largest mixed-feed steam crackers, and with a scheduled to be done in 2018, it was expected to assist Qatar in its large-scale expansion of the petrochemicals sector.
