(MENAFN) The inflation rate in Tunisia reached 4.6 percent in Jan against 4.2 percent in Dec and 4 percent in November, as revealed the National Institute of Statistics.

Moreover, the inflation rate of energy and food soared in Jan to 4.9 percent, which is caused by a year-on-year rate of increase in prices of vegetables.

In addition, the prices of fruits and dried fruits as well as of milk, dairy products and eggs posted an increase of 4.5 percent and 1 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the housing and household energy index grew 6.1 percent compared to the same period last year due to a 6.8 percent rise in rental prices.
