Jordan reports 14% growth in 2011 IT exports

(MENAFN) A survey conducted by the ICT Association of Jordan (int@j) and the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology showed that last year, the country’s IT exports grew 14 percent from 2010, reaching USD230.5 million, reported Jordan Times.

The survey also revealed that 39.4 percent of total IT exports went to Saudi Arabia, 9.5 percent to the US, 8.5 percent to the UAE, 6.3 percent to Iraq, 4 percent to Qatar, 3.9 percent to Oman, 3.2 percent to the Netherlands, 2.6 percent to Palestine and 2.4 percent to the UK.

Jordan’s overall IT sector revenues in 2011, including exports and local revenues rose by 1 percent from a year earlier, surpassing USD738 million.

It is worth noting that Jordan’s overall revenues from the ICT sector increased to USD2.4 billion last year, from USD2.35 billion in 2010.
