Jordan’s Jan-Aug tax revenues up 6% to USD2.84b

(MENAFN) Jordan’s Income and Sales Tax Department’s (ISTD) Spokesperson, Musa Tarawneh, stated that tax revenues during this year’s January-August period rose 6 percent from last year’s same period, reported Jordan Times.

Tarawneh said that total revenues reached USD2.84 billion, compared with USD 2.67 billion in 2011’s first 8 months.

He added that revenues collected from the income tax grew to USD862.65 million, from USD817.61 million in last year’s same period, whereas revenues collected from the general sales tax rose to USD1.97 billion from USD1.82 billion.

It is worth noting that tax revenues in 2011 went up by 5 percent from 2010, reaching USD3.889 billion, according to official figures.
