(MENAFN) Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said that Kuwait is spending USD216 million on automatic fire detection systems at the country’s three oil refineries, the state’s news agency reported.
Fahad Al-Ajmi, KPC chairman, said thatthe flames’ detection devices are being set up at the refineries of Al-Ahmadi, Al-Shuaiba and Mina Abdullah.
He added that authorities were increasingly focusing on ensuring safety for personnel in the oil sector, allocating larger budgets for this purpose and training personnel to deal with emergencies and accidents.
KPC has succeeded in cutting proportion of accidents by 150 percent, and they won the widely-acclaimed ISO certificate in appreciation for their distinguished effort in this field, he said.
