(MENAFN) The workers at the State Employees’ Cooperative have staged a nationwide protest across Lebanon over their lack of benefits, reported the Daily Star.
A spokesperson for the workers said that they were apologetic for having to escalate the protest to a sit-in, but the workers felt it was the only way to effectively communicate to the authorities their disappointment in the false promises.
Sit-ins took place across Lebanon, in Beirut, Zahle, Sidon, Triploi, Jezzine, Nabatieh, and Baalbek.
The protest disrupted regular work. The workers insisted that their meager demands for better benefits, and improved retirement pay be met.
