(MENAFN) Lebanese Premier Saad Hariri said that economy can”t handle big taxes at the moment, and he said: “We have to decide if Lebanon wants to be a tax haven or not.The economy can”t cope with big taxes and the trend is to offer incentives for the private sector so it can be able to progress and resurrect.”
The Prime Minister said that during a visit of a delegation from Beirut Traders Association, to voice their opposition to the new taxes proposed in the 2017 draft budget.
Moreover, the proposed taxes triggered wide condemnation from private businesses, banks and labor unions.
As most ministers agree that it is in Lebanon”s vital interest to pass the budget to send a positive signal to the international markets.
