(MENAFN) Megamart was announced as the new Waitrose supermarket in Al Hayat Mall, Segaiya, under an agreement signed yesterday, according to Gulf Daily News.
The agreement was signed between Etihad Al Khaleej Real Estate, owners and managers of the mall, and Megamart Supermarkets to replace Waitrose with Megamart.
Etihad Al Khaleej chairman Dr Fadhel Al Arrayed said: “Unfortunately the franchisees of Waitrose in Bahrain have encountered financial difficulty and had to pull out of the Bahrain market; and after thorough consideration of the major operators in Bahrain, Megamart has been chosen to replace Waitrose in this strategic shopping hub in Manama.”
Al Arrayed added: “When Megamart opens its doors in July, it will offer the residents of one of Bahrain’s most prominent neighbourhoods a convenient, modern and attractive place to do their daily food and grocery shopping, a service that has by and large been lacking in the area.”
