(MENAFN) Printing and Publishing Group’s (PPG) chairman, Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh, said that in 2012, the Middle East’s printing industry would be forecasted to expand 5 percent, reported Gulf News.
AL Shaikh added that the growth in the rgion would be driven by technological advancements and high contribution of more than USD2.3 billion made by the UAE printing industry.
He also said that the Dubai International Print Awards (DIPA) recorded a rise of more than 54 percent in the number of entries received for 2011, adding that PPG and DIPA were determined to improve the quality standards of the print industry in the region to meet and compete with global standards.
It is worth noting that PPG urges small and medium size printers to invest in equipment with a high level of technological innovation to slash their output cost, therefore enabling them to compete and maintain profitability.
