(MENAFN) A report issued by Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (HCP) showed that the kingdom’s consumer prices index (CPI) increased by 0.2 percent in January compared to the previous month, Reuters reported.
The HCP said in its report that the increase is the result of a rise in both food prices, which rose by 0.3 percent, and non-food prices, which gained 0.2 percent.
Concerning food, the increases registered between December 2009 and January 2010 concerned mainly fish and sea fruit, which rose by 6.1 percent and vegetables, which rose by 5.4 percent.
Compared to the same month last year, the CPI in January 2010 declined by 0.7 percent, reflecting a fall of 2.4 percent in food prices and a rise of 0.8 percent in non-food prices.
