(MENAFN) UK-based Mott MacDonald won a contract for the construction of the largest ever power station in Oman, Arabian Business reported.
The contract, which was awarded by the Phoenix Power Company, includes 2,000MW combined cycle power plant located at Sur in the Sharqiyah region, aimed to meet the growing domestic demand for electricity.
Under the deal, Mott MacDonald will undergo the remaining two years of the design and construction period, including a design review and the supervision of construction, inspection, testing and commissioning.
Grant Willis, Mott MacDonald’s project manager, said expected the first 433MW to be available from April 2013 with the remainder of the 2,000MW capacity scheduled for commercial operation in April 2014.
Mott MacDonald is a global management, engineering and development consultancy with more than 14,000 staff, USD1.6 billion revenue and operates in 140 countries for the public and private sectors.
