(MENAFN) Oman Air’s CEO, Peter Hill, said that as a result of a delay in delivering Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to the carrier, Oman Air started negotiations to get compensation from the plane maker, reported Arabian Business.
Hill added that four years ago, the airline signed a deal to lease six of the planes from Kuwait’s Alafco where delivery was planned in 2012, 2014 and 2015; nevertheless, due to delays in the aircraft production, delivery would be forecasted in 2014’s second half.
On the other hand, Boeing said that the Middle East’s carriers would account for 7.5 percent of the company’s orders expected to the year 2030, with a combined value of USD450 billion, and over the next two decades, the company expected a USD4 trillion market for new aircraft.
It is worth noting that Oman Air is amongst other Middle Eastern carriers that suffered from the delay in the delivery of Boeing’s jets including Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Etihad Airways and Royal Jordanian.
