(MENAFN) State-controlled Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) head of the water department, Yasmeen Al Lawati, said that the company consumes one barrel of oil for the production of eight barrels of water, reported Bloomberg.
These declarations come as Oman faces threats of water interruption in the future.
Al Lawati said that PDO had a daily output of water at 800,000 cubic meters from its oilfields.
It is worth noting that PDO’s largest shareholder is the state which owns a 60 percent stake in the company, while Royal Dutch Shell Plc owns 34 percent.
