Oman posts 17% rise in number of Saudi arrivals

16 May 2012

(MENAFN) Oman’s Ministry of Tourism announced that in 2011, the number of Saudi tourists who came to the Sultanate reached 60,000, recording an increase of 17 percent from a year earlier, reported Arabian Business.

The ministry added that Saudi visitors came for business trips, family vacations, in addition to short break leisure travels.

It said that higher demand for travel will result in non-stop air services between the Kingdom and Oman’s Salalah.

On the other hand, it noted that the number of visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries jumped 27 percent last year.

It is worth noting that Oman received 2.4 million international visitors in 2011.
