(MENAFN) Omani Nawras chief executive, Ross Cormack, stated that the telecom company successfully installed its first sea cable in the country via undersea communications supplier TE SubCom, reported Times of Oman.
Cormack also said that the new cable would be fully functional by the end of the current year. He added that the cable would reduce Nawras’s costs for international interconnection and transmission lease-line.
The chief executive pointed out that the cable would also help the company increase its capacity for broadband and high-quality voice services.
It is worth noting that Nawras is a joint venture of Qtel, Tele-Denmark Communications and Local Omani partners.
