(MENAFN) The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) said that Oman’s remittances from the expatriate community hit 12 percent in 2013, according to Arabian Business.
In 2013, amount remitted were estimated at USD9.096 billion compared to USD8.076 billion a year earlier, posting a 12.6 percent rise.
Total amount remitted in the last five years reached USD35.414 billion, the CBO reported.
The number of the expat workers in the private sector boosted to 1.527.000 workers in 2013 compared to 1.316.000 workers in 2012, resulting in increasing remittances during the year.
