(MENAFN) Natural gas demand in Oman is expected to grow by 10-15 percent in 2014, Times of Oman reported.
The increased demand will be mainly led by power projects, gas-based industries, enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects and new ventures in Duqm.
Undersecretary at the Ministry of Oil and Gas said: “Last year we produced about 90 million cubic meters per day of natural gas and this year, we are expecting gas production at 110-115 million cubic meters a day.”
The undersecretary added that the power sector’s demand for natural gas grew at 8-11 percent per annum, while that of industries hit a growth of 5-6 percent.
