(MENAFN) Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s (TRA) regulatory affairs’ executive director, Fintan Healy, said that only 5 percent of businesses in the UAE use e-commerce trading, reported The National.
Healy added that although around 44 percent of employees in the country use computers at work, no more than 11 percent buy products via the Web,
He also said that annually in the US, the retail ecommerce industry was valued at USD150 billion, where in June, sites belonging to Amazon, the online retailer, had visits from more than 282 million visitors, accounting for 20.4 percent of the world’s internet users.
It is worth noting that in 2011, global e-commerce industry’s revenues are expected to increase 18.9 percent from a year ago reaching USD680 billion.
