Outstanding balance of treasury bonds in Egypt hits EGP690.07bn

(MENAFN) The size of outstanding balances of treasury bonds in regional currency owed by the government reached EGP690.07bn at the end of April of this year.

Accordingly, there are two types of bonds issued in Egyptian pounds, the first being coupon-yield bonds, worth almost EGP662.6bn, at an average rate of return of 14.247 percent.

Meanwhile, the largest investors of treasury bonds and bills are banks working in the market, while the government puts forward treasury bonds and bills on a regular basis to cover the budget deficit.

Treasury bonds and bills are provided amid 15 banks, which are the main dealers in the primary market, while these banks resell a portion of these bills and bonds in the secondary market.
