(MENAFN) Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker unveiled plans to increase weekly flights to China to 70 by 2013, in a bid to tap the world’s hyper-growing market, Arabian Business reported.
He explained that the flag carrier, which has currently 35 weekly flights to China, plans to invest in real estate and employ more staff in China if its aviation authority approves doubling weekly flights.
Qatar Airways plans to launch services to 15 new routes over the next year to expand its share in the long-haul market.
In November, Qatar Airways added five Airbus A380 superjumbos and 50 A320neos to its order book in a USD6.5 billion deal with Airbus.
