(MENAFN) Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said that it has awarded a $189.4 million contract to Larsen & Toubro�s (L&T) Water Technology Business Unit for advanced waste water treatment and urban reuse, QNA reported.
This project is the largest of its kind in the GCC based on advanced technology �Sequential Batch Reactor� (SBR) followed by ultra-filtration. The scope of work includes design, supply, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the Doha South Sewage Treatment Works, Phase II expansion.
The project is to be executed on Lumpsum Turnkey basis and is slated for operation by 2012.
The technology is provided by ITT Corporation, USA and construction by Galfar Al Misnad Engineering and Contracting of Qatar. The rated plant capacity will be 92 million litres per day for SBR and 187 million litres per day for ultra-filtration.
L&T is a $ 8.5 billion technology, engineering and construction group with global operations. It is one of the largest companies in India�s private sector.
