(MENAFN) Qatar and German trade volume is steadily increasing, with the bilateral trade volume increasing by 37.4 percent in 2013, reaching USD 2.54 billion compared with USD 1.85 billion in 2012, The Peninsula Qatar reported.
Qatar’s imports from Germany in 2013 increased to USD 1.58 billion, growing by 5 percent compared with USD1.51 billion in 2012, with imports by Qatar from Germany mainly being of automobiles and parts, accounting for 25.8 percent of the imports, plant and machinery, 20.8 percent, chemical products, 10.8 percent, electro-technology, 9.4 percent, metal goods 4.6 percent and process measuring control technology accounting for 4 percent of total imports.
Meanwhile, Qatari exports to the Europe’s largest economy mainly included natural gas, which accounted for 69.9 percent of the imports, crude oil 21.6 percent, chemical products 4.8 percent, machinery 2 percent, and electronic goods which accounted for 0.1 percent.
Both countries are also looking to boost trades between them in several other sectors, including building infrastructure, including stadiums, especially with Qatar gearing to host the World Cup in 2022 and due to German companies and organizations having a lot of experience with regard to mega-events and ways of handling them.
