(MENAFN) Qatar Statistics Authority said that due to higher gas output and increasing energy prices, in the second quarter, the country’s economy grew 41.8 percent at current prices year-on-year, reported Reuters.
The authority added that in the quarter, gross domestic product (GDP) went up 8.8 percent from first quarter’s USD38.7 billion, on the other hand, estimated nominal GDP expended to USD42.2 billion from USD29.7 billion in last year’s same quarter.
It also said that gross value-added of the mining and quarrying sector, surged 67.6 percent from 2010’s same period whereas it grew 10.3 percent from the previous quarter.
It is worth noting that in 2011, real GDP will be forecasted to expand 18.9 percent.
