(MENAFN) Qatar proclaimed that it aims to boost natural gas production by 30 percent in the coming several years, while it plans to raise to 100mn tons by 2024.
Accordingly, once finished amid 5-7 years from now, the project will increase the production of the country to almost 6mn barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Recently, the country’s production is more than 77mn tons per year, while the expansion will enhance output levels up to the equivalent of 6mn barrels of oil per day.
Additionally, the announcement comes as the Gulf suffers its worst diplomatic crisis in years after KSA and its allies imposed a sweeping embargo on Qatar in June.
