(MENAFN) US-based Populous, the company building Sports City Stadium in Qatar, stated that the stadium designed for action in the Qatar 2022 World Cup could cost over USD2 billion, thus it could be the costliest sports facility in the history of the world, reported Arabian Business.
In addition to accommodating up to 65,000 sport fans, the new facility would include a hotel tower, an office tower and a media tower.
An architectural challenge for this already big project would be its floating roof, which will open and close in 15 to 20 minutes. The idea in the design was to resemble that of a Bedouin tent.
Populous added that all these high-tech specs come along with a cooling system that spectaculars would enjoy in this Gulf country.
