(MENAFN) Qatargas said that it will inaugurate the Laffan Refinery, one of the world’s largest condensate refineries, on April 6, 2010, The Peninsula reported.
The firm said that the Laffan Refinery is the first condensate refinery in Qatar, with a processing capacity of 146,000 barrels per stream day (bpsd) and utilizes the field condensate produced from the Qatargas and RasGas facilities.
Chairman of Qatargas Operating Company Limited, Faisal Al Suwaidi, said that this facility is the first of its kind in Qatar, and it will contribute to the country’s economic growth.
He said that the inaugural will feature remarks from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Abdulla bin Hamad Al Attiyah, with the presence of senior officials and representatives from Laffan Refinery’s shareholders: Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil, Total, Idemitsu, Cosmo, Mitsui and Marubeni.
