(MENAFN) Qatar’s Laffan Refinery 2 (LR2) is set to be the region’s first such ‘enviornment-friendly’ facility after the commissioning of the Diesel Hydrotreater (DHT), The Peninsula Qatar reported.
Chief Operating Officer, Refinery Ventures-Qatargas said: “The facility will have reduced emissions in terms of CO2, nitrogen oxides and sulphur oxides with zero flaring during normal operations.”
LR2 produces 71,000 BPSD Naphtha, 60,800 BPSD kerosene, 27,000 BPSD gasoil and 850 tons per day of LPG, in addition to Butane and Propane. The DHT will have a capacity to process 54,000 BPSD.
The COO added: “The under construction DHT is expected to be operational by April 30. The low sulfur gasoil produced will serve domestic demand and contributes to Qatar becoming self-sufficient in transport fuels.”
