Qatar’s mobile phone payments up 44 percent

(MENAFN) The telecom sector in Qatar viewed strong growth through the past few years as whole cellular phone subscriptions increased almost 44 percent from 2011-2014.
Furthermore, mobile phone payments in the country jumped 1mn over the period, while whole mobile phone subscriptions expanded from 2.3mn to 3.31mn.
The major factors behind jump in mobile phone subscription were; rising population, falling prices of mobile devices and call rates in Qatar.
“Qatar economy is growing very fast and there are many mega development projects going on. Growing economy and ongoing mega projects have attracted expatriates,” said senior official.
