(MENAFN) Qatar National Broadband Network (Q.NBN) has won a 25-year license to provide Qatar with fibre optic broadband across the country, Arabian Business reported.
The license will enable Q.NBN to offer wholesale broadband fibre optics infrastructure services to network service providers and operators.
Fibre-optic broadband network will significantly enhance capability to offer voice, high-speed internet access and other data services along with innovative content such as high-definition TV and 3D multimedia programmes, the company said in a statement.
In July, CEO Mohamad Al-Mannai said Qatar will invest more than USD500 million in upgrading its broadband network over the next few years to boost capacity for new telecom operators.
The company added that the investment will provide opportunities for up to two new operators.
