(MENAFN) Qatar’s telecommunication sector has contributed 1.7 percent to its GDP last year, up from 1.3 percent in 2014, while it saw investments of almost QR1.25bn.
Moreover, consumers benefited from completion in the mobile market, while there is a lack of completion in the fixed market.
Additionally, market profits remain unchanged compared to 2015 at almost QR10bn, a sign that the mobile telecom market in Qatar have matured.
Meanwhile, service providers are also diversifying their revenue streams into associated activities, like handset and equipment sale, accounted for 22 percent of their revenues in 2016.
