(MENAFN) Riyadh’s government announced it has signed a USD2 billion contract with Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP), the French state-owned public transport operator for the supplying, operating and maintaining the Riyadh Bus network, Arabian Business reported.
Under the agreement, RATP is expected to supply Riyadh with 1.000 buses, with the capacity of transporting 900.000 passengers a day as well as which will be operated on a transport network, which will consist of 22 routes covering about 1.200 km all over the city.
The agreement also includes the supplying of 756 metro cars, 85 stations, six metro lines and 176-km network, in a project that it is expected to be completed in in three phases, the first of which will cover areas south of the capital, while the next phases will focus on the center of the city and then north and other parts of Riyadh.
