(MENAFN – Arab News) ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has opened the first ABB Turbocharging service station in this important Saudi industrial city.
Company executives told reporters that the service station would provide round-the-clock servicing and spare parts availability to customers of Baden, Switzerland-based ABB Turbocharging from the shipping, railway, power generation and mining sectors operating in and around Bahrain, Kuwait and the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
Joined by over 30 customers, ABB’s local management in Saudi Arabia and representatives from ABB in Switzerland inaugurated the Jubail service station, the second ABB Turbocharging site in Saudi Arabia; the company opened its Jeddah service station in 2000 as a first step toward meeting the needs of its growing number of Saudi-based customers.
ABB turbochargers are used to improve the power output of large diesel and gas engines by up to 300 percent, reduce fuel consumption by as much as 10 percent, and are a key technology in the reduction of exhaust emissions. The Jubail service station will enable ABB Turbocharging to expand its end-user support, particularly for the Arabian Gulf’s growing shipping industry.
“We’ve been planning to increase our service support to customers in Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia for some time now, and this facility in Jubail will complement our global service network to ensure that our turbocharging experts are always close to our customers,” said Mohammed Merdah, ABB Turbocharging’s local business unit manager for Saudi Arabia.
More than 100 certified ABB turbocharger service stations in more than 55 countries around the world guarantee that service parts are available at short notice and well-trained service and support staff are always close to the end-user. To ensure optimum logistical support, ABB turbocharger service stations are linked via the company’s own online computer network to the Turbocharging Service Center at its headquarters in Baden.
