(MENAFN) Saudi Aramco said that its joint venture with France’s Total, Jubail oil refinery, is slated to start operations in late 2013, later than a previous target of March 2013, Reuters reported.
That timescale f the project is later than previously stated, said Vice President of Marketing and Supply for Saudi Aramco, Dawood Al-Dawood.
He pointed out that the Jubail project is among the new plants Saudi Arabia, the world’s top oil exporter which is planning to boost domestic refining capacity.
Engineering work started from July last year and construction would start from March till 2013 and get completed by the end of 2013, Al-Dawood said.
It is worth mentioning that Saudi Aramco currently owns a 62.5 percent stake in the Jubail project while Total has 37.5 percent.
