(MENAFN) US Jacobs Engineering Group said that it inked a deal with Saudi IDEA Soda Ash and Calcium Chloride Company (ISACC) in order to provide engineering and project management services for the building of a soda ash and calcium chloride plant in Jubail’s Second Industrial City, reported Arabian Business.
The company added that the plant would be the first of its kind in the country and the GCC to produce soda ash (sodium carbonate) and calcium chloride, which are used in oil and gas drilling operations, and in the manufacture of glass and detergents.
On the other hand, ISACC said that the USD300 million plant would make a notable contribution to the development of Saudi’s non-oil economy with all basic materials secured from mines within the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that Jacobs will also provide the project management services up to the plant start-up.
