Saudi to boost steel output to more than 3m tons in 2013

(MENAFN) Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Secretary-General, Adnan bin Hussain Mandourah, said that the country plans to increase its steel output to over 3 tons per year, staring 2013, reported Arab News.

Mandourah added that considering the Kingdom’s rapid economic development, annual demand for steel in the Saudi market surpassed 6.5 million tons.

He also said that construction and huge basic infrastructure projects in the country have attracted global steel manufacturers.

It is worth noting that Saudi, which has many steel factories, pays special attention to the production of steel, according to Mandourah.
