(MENAFN) A newly constructed Saudi airport build in one of the country”s provinces has failed to attract any global airline to use it, Emirates 24/7 reported.
The airport, which cost around USD38.12 million and has a capacity of 100,000 passengers a year, is situated in the Alula province, west of Saudi Arabia.
Since the airport”s opening, only the government-owned Saudi Airlines has used it with domestic flights targeted at neighboring cities.
“The airport is ready to receive scores of flights a week but we have not received requests from any international airlines to use it,” a spokesman for the Saudi civil aviation authority said.
