(MENAFN) Qatar Foundation (QF) has awarded a USD412 million contract to Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) and Siemens to help build a tram system in Education City, Arabian Business reported.
The People Mover System project comprise of a battery-powered tram linking various sections of the Doha complex.
HLG will be responsible for the design and construction of track-work, plus tram stops, and a depot facility. HLG’s component of the project is worth USD124 million.
The project represents the start of a USD35 billion investment in rail infrastructure in preparation for 2022 FIFA World Cup.
