/SISA Information Security WLL, Middle East’s leading Qualified Security Assessor, awarded PCI DSS v3.2 certification to BBK, licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain as a conventional retail bank. The PCI DSS certification was presented on successfully completing the audit and attaining compliance on one of the most stringent and most coveted security standard, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards.
Upon receiving the certification, Mr. Jamal Al Sabbagh General Manger of Information technology and operations Group of BBK, expressed his delight on such an achievement BBK and its subsidiaries attained thank to their commitments to the highest standards in there banking offering.” The compliance on one of the stringent securities standards for the payment card data and the successful audit requirement completion illustrate the bank’s secure system and its investment to constantly insure the highest standards of safety and securities are applied” said Mr. Al Sabbagh.
SISA Worldwide CEO and Founder, Mr. Dharshan Shanthamurthy said, “Maintaining such an exhaustive international benchmark is not a one-off activity, but an ongoing process and the organization has now laid an excellent foundation to be vigilant and ready to face any security eventuality. While acknowledging that no system in the world is 100 percent fool proof against all possible security threats, achieving this standard gets BBK several notches ahead in terms of maintaining the highest level of trust.”
PCI-DSS is not a static standard, but an evolving one based on the ever changing threat landscape worldwide. Hence, an organization that achieves certification status cannot be complacent that they would be automatically recertified at the next annual re-audit.
The PCI Security Standards Council, launched in September 2006 formed by the major payment card brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB, is a global open body to develop, enhance, disseminate and assist with the understanding of security standards for payment account security and maintains, evolves and promotes the Payment Card Industry Security Standards.
