Syrian opposition recaptures Tabqa from IS
15 May 2017
(MENAFN) Syrian Kurdish and Arab forces said they recaptued the key town of Tabqa from so-called Islamic State.
SDF, as know as the Syrian Democratic Forces, added that they had “completely freed” the town and its dam.
The operation comes a day after the US stated that it was going to supply members of the Kurdish Popular Protection Units (YPG).
Turkey insists that the YPG is just a branch of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
