(MENAFN) The United Nation’s World Tourism Organization reported that the continuing unrest in the Middle East kept tourism numbers dropped in the first four months of 2014, according to Arabian Business.
Though demand for international tourism remained strong as it grew by five percent, arrivals in the Middle East dropped by about four percent, despite Saudi Arabia being named as one of fastest growing source markets.
The Middle East was the only region in the world to post a decline in visitor numbers from January to April compared to the same period last year although the UNWTO said the four percent figure “should be taken with caution as it is based on limited available data for the region.”
