(MENAFN) The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in Dubai announced that the emirate received 11.6 million tourists in 2014, up 5.6 percent compared to 2013, Xinhua reported.
Revenues of hotels in Dubai registered USD6.51 billion in 2014, indicating a growth of 9.8 percent from the previous year, DTCM showed.
In 2014, Saudi Arabia was once again the top source for the Gulf Arab sheikhdom, followed by India, the United Kingdom, the United States and Iran.
The general director of DTCM said Dubai was on the way to reach its target to host 20 million visitors per year by 2020, when the sheikhdom hosts the world expo.
