(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac) said that during the first quarter, passenger traffic at Abu Dhabi International Airport surpassed 21 percent over 2011’s same period to more than 3.4 million passengers, reported The National.
Adac added that in the period, cargo traffic grew 11 percent, while 29,123 flights went through the airport.
The Abu Dhabi Government-owned operator of the emirate’s airports also said that the Far East was the main region, representing 39 percent of the airport’s traffic, followed by the Middle East with 25 percent and Europe with 22 percent.
Moreover, the majority of traffic was generated by Doha, Bangkok, London, Manila and Jeddah.
It is worth noting that in March, passenger traffic climbed 22 percent compared with last year’s same period to 1.2 million travelers.
