(MENAFN) During the first eight months of the year, Tunisia had received around 4.6 million tourists, which marks an increase by 57.8% comparing to the same period in previous year.
A report released by the Tunisian National Tourist Office showed that only 2.915 million tourists entered the country during the eight months period.
While Minister of Tourism stated that income from tourism is about USD666mln (1.6bln Tunisian dinars), the most tourists arrived were from Algeria, France, Germany and the UK.
As she confirmed hopes to attract more tourists from new markets, she said: “Tunisian tourism has recovered from the terrorist events of 2015, and has returned to its normal pace (“). The Tunisian tourism product must be diversified and improved with greater quality.”
