Tunisia to invest USD1.7m on Trans-Maghreb railway

(MENAFN) Tunisia announced that it is planning to invest USD1.7 on its section of the planned trans-Maghreb railway, with the money being granted by The African Development Bank Group (AFDB), QNA reported

The Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) said that the proposed project will be 1.200 kilometer in length and will help in linking Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, which will ultimately help in facilitating the movements of individuals and goods among these countries.

The Tunisian Transport Ministry said that it is currently in the final stages of studying the project, adding that it expects that this project will be the first step in enhancing the commercial and maritime cooperation among the AMU countries, as well as resulting in helping to promote air transport between these countries as well.
