(MENAFN) The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) reported a growth of about 9 percent in air movements in the UAE airspace during 2011’s Q1, reported The National.
The GCAA also said that air traffic in the first quarter rose to 167,221 up from last year’s 153,387.
The authority added that Air traffic for March 2011 in the UAE climbed to 58,553 thus increasing around14 percent compared to last February. The GCAA pointed out that average daily air traffic in March was 1,889, up from 1,734 in the same period of 2010.
It is worth noting that the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) was created in 1996 by Federal Cabinet Decree (Law 4) to regulate Civil Aviation and provide designated aviation services with emphasis on safety and security and to strengthen the aviation industry within the UAE and its upper airspace.
