UAE banks handle USD175bn cheques in 5 months

(MENAFN) A whole of 12.922mn cheques worth USD175bn were handled by the UAE Clearing Cheque System amid the Jan-May period of this year.
Additionally, a total of Dh28.9bn worth of 546.000 cheques was bounced from Jan amid the end of May, reaching for 4.5 percent of the cheques’ whole value.
Meanwhile, the whole value of dishonored cheques amid the cited period of the year dropped to 7.3 percent, Dh2.3bn, against the same period of 2016.
However, the total number of dishonored cheques amid the month of May fell to 107.7 thousands from 108.000 in April, reaching for 4 percent.
