(MENAFN) The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) CEO, Mohamed Al-Hammadi, announced that the company would deliver nearly 5,600 megawatts (MW) of low-carbon electricity to the Emirates Electric National Grid (EENG) by 2021, reported Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
He noted that the target would be met when work is finished on 4 of the company’s nuclear plants.
Al-Hammadi said that the company plans to provide the UAE with safe, clean and efficient nuclear energy by 2017.
He added that ENEC would operate a nuclear station each year to come to 4 stations at Barakah units by the year 2021.
It is worth noting that ENEC would propose a construction license request for the third and fourth stations at the end of 2012.
