(MENAFN) The UAE’s Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced that last year, both Etisalat and Du gained USD5.98 billion from mobile phone subscription, reported Emirates 24/7.
The country’s two telecommunications service providers netted almost USD3.35 billion in revenue from pre-paid users.
On the other hand, revenue from monthly bill subscribers reached USD1.84 billion.
The TRA said that the two companies had 1.89 million fixed line telephone subscribers at the end of April, in addition to 911,466 internet users.
It is worth noting that Etisalat and Du had 12.49 million mobile phone users by the end of 2012’s fourth month, of which 763,000 subscribed in the January-April period.
