(MENAFN) Data from the 2014 Global Online Work Report by Elance-oDesk, the world’s largest online workplace, revealed that UAE companies spent USD24.4 million tapping into Elance-oDesk’s global talent pool in 2014, Arabian Business reported.
It showed 12,000 new UAE companies registered in 2014, which was a 15 percent year over year increase. According to the report, the most hired-for category was Technology, counting for 74 percent of businesses spend.
A total of 22,000 new UAE jobs were posted on the website last year, representing a 16 percent increase in demand for freelance talent since 2013, and significant increase in online hiring in the region.
“Talent like software, communications and so many other industries are moving to the cloud. Businesses are increasingly looking to engage globally distributed teams as part of their strategy,” Elance-oDesk country manager said in a statement.
